One Web Day - the net and me.

Being a sort of old timer...

The first time I really thought about the net was reading an article in the Independent newpaper when I was just about to leave Uni in 1991 . It was talking about Archie, Veronica and Gopher. The web was didn't even exist then. I know we had email and unix talk at uni but to be honest no one on my environmental science course knew how to work it.

Reading about all these wonderful new ways to find information made me think "I want to get into that somehow.

Well I got distracted and tried to be a field ecologist... then when that didn't work out a trucker.

Being a trucker isnt a long term career move though. So I did an OU course in computing. One of the first things I did was get online... This was 1995 so I installed Netscape.

WOW... you can find out information on Yahoo. Lots of stuff. Porn too of course ;). By the time I had finished the course I was working as a web developer.

From there a series of jobs meant more money and better work. I ended up at Ingenta.

Then the best use of the net of all... I met Rachael on line and we are now married!
