Just what is good service in a shop
I was in WH Smiths at lunch time today. I only had one item to purchase that came in at under a pound. There were a choice of two tills to pay.
One of the till operators was doing a real good job of service... chatting to the customers, helping them out, being polite. The other was the typical surly oaf. Guess which line moved 5 times faster than the other? Surly oaf wins every time.
To be honest I would rather get my purchase and get out than be told to "have a nice day" any day of the week. Surly oafishness is the way forward.
