Are employmement agencies wasting their own time?

I have been contacted 4 times in the last 2 days by employment agencies all trying to get me into the same position. I think two different "consultants" from the same company have got in contact with me.

Basically thier database search throws me out with the relevant skills in the right geographical area.

The thing is that I am not at all suited to the role as its more for a graphic designer who can code and I am a coder that at least understands a little about graphic design and knows his way around photoshop.

I guess these people work on the shotgun principle. If you blast enough stuff out you will hit something. Its really annoying though when you have to try and take these calls in the middle of a meeting or something. I don't want to be too rude to them in case I need them in the future.

I just get the feeling that the whole recruitment business for my line of work is so impersonal that it alienates most of the potential clients from both sides.
