More thoughts about CSS design patterns

My initial thoughts on this led me to something like a series of cookbook recepies for solving CSS problems. How to create a float based layout etc. Now I think that it is not the individual patterns that are interesting. (though of course some of them are) The interesting part is combining the individual patters to make a coherent design.

For instance on the ingenta site there are several patterns on the front page. The positioning of the main elements is one obviously but each element is also at least one pattern such as the log in form on the right or the drop down menus. And the front page is one of the simplest pages on the site. Something like the search results page or saved searches page have a great deal of information on them with several interacting and overlapping patterns.

This will have to be looked into.
